Public Health Engineering Department on Thursday issued an advisory and urged the public to ensure judicious use of water following the Coronavirus scare in Jammu and Kashmir.

Stressing on maintaining the hygiene by washing hands with soap for twenty seconds, the advisory said it is incumbent upon every individual to ensure that tap water remains closed for those twenty seconds so that Coronavirus crisis doesn’t turn into a water crisis.

The advisory further said by turning-off the tap during 20 seconds of handwashing, 2 litres of water can be saved and a family of five individuals would save 100 litres per day.

Urging responsible citizens to conserve tap water, the advisory said that it would ensure adequate water supply for health workers and communities who are fighting hard to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.

In case of grievances or complaints regarding water supply, people can call PHE toll free number 1800-180-7045; Jammu: 9419186479, Kashmir: 0194-2477207.
