Srinagar

National Conference Friday lashed out at the administration for making people suffer due to its callous and insensitive approach in dealing with the snowfall in the Valley.

During an extensive tour of Srinagar City, National Conference General Secretary and MLA Khanyar Ali Mohammad Sagar interacted with stranded commuters, traders and patients who couldn’t make their way to hospitals.

Lashing out at the administration, Sagar said this state of brazen insensitivity and unprofessionalism was unprecedented. “Snow hasn’t been cleared from even main arterial roads, not to speak of interior lanes and by-lanes. Prayers at main Jamia Masjids and Dargahs including Jamia Masjid, Nowhatta and Hazrat Dastageer Sahab at Khanyar were affected because of the administration’s apathy and indifference.”

“Even access roads to hospitals haven’t been cleared despite the Government having all the necessary machinery at their disposal”, the NC General Secretary said while speaking to reporters during his tour of the city.

The NC General Secretary said the Chief Minister and her Cabinet Ministers as well as PDP legislators from Kashmir were absent and missing from the ground as people were bearing the brunt of the adverse weather. “Electricity seems to be adversely hit. Delivery of rations, essential commodities and medicines has been stopped completely. What is the Chief Minister doing? Why didn’t the administration make necessary arrangements to be prepared for this? Snowfall isn’t a rare, unpredictable occurrence and the forecasts clearly suggested imminent snowfall during this period – even according to the Meteorology Department. Despite this the Government has been caught napping,” the NC General Secretary added.

“We hope the Administration takes immediate steps to correct this mismanagement and the city wakes up to realize the Government has been found and woken up from its slumber,” he said.
