Ding dong battles started after police arrested independent lawmaker Er Rasheed near Handwara.
Er Rasheed was leading a protest march from Langate to Sopore against the hanging of Afzal Guru.
Sources close to MLA Langate told Kashmir Life that hundreds of people were marching towards Sopore and when they reached near Handwara, police and Para military troops intercepted them and arrested Rasheed.
They added that police used tear smoke shells to disperse the protester. The ding dong battles were going on when last reports came in.
