Incumbent Langate lawmaker, Er Rasheed on Saturday called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar.

Rasheed expressed concern over the “conspiracy” being hatched against Article 35-A by certain sections, a statement issued by Rasheed’s party AIP said.

Rasheed apprised Governor about the sentiments of people over the issue and said that the law is in practice since 19th century and it has nothing to do with a particular community or the region and it were the people of Jammu who persuaded Maharaja to form state subject laws and not to allow anyone to purchase land in the state for the larger interest of people of the state, the statement added.

Rasheed requested Governor to impress upon the government to hold an emergency session of the state Assembly to discuss this significant issue.

He also requested the Governor to facilitate a conducive atmosphere in universities where students can express their views without violence. He, according to the statement, also sought revocation of ban on formation of student unions.

Rasheed discussed various developmental issues pertaining to Langate constituency including measures being taken to develop Bungus and Leepa as prominent tourist destinations.
