Independent Lawmaker from north Kashmir’s Langate constituency, Langate Er Rasheed on Saturday condemned the hanging of Farooq Ahmad Shabangi resident of Malikpora Langate by unknown ‘miscreants’.

As soon as the incident happened Rasheed reached the spot and expressed solidarity with the family of the deceased.

According to a statement issued here, while addressing the gathering of mourners on the occasion he said that he can feel the pain and sufferings of the ill fated family but it is the responsibility of the state government to identify the culprits and ensure that they get the strongest punishment for the heinous crime.

Rasheed said, “The deceased youth was a person of integrity and God fearing youth and his father Ahmad Ali Shabangi was killed by Army in broad day light in 1998 in presence of dozens of villagers. The investigation should cover the back ground in which Farooq’s father was killed by Army at the behest of renegades who were playing with the blood and honour of the Kashmiris and are even yet engaged in suspicious activities. People of the area will offer their full cooperation to nab the culprits.”

Rasheed paid an amount of Rs 30,000out of Joint Effort Trust (JET) to the family of Farooq Ahmad and thanked people of the area for offering their donations to the trust and stressed upon the inhabitants of the area.
