MLA Langate Er. Rasheed Tuesday led a protest against the blue eyed defaulters who have failed to pay their electric dues amounting to crores of rupees.

Joined by a number of protestors including Sarpanchs hailing from different parts of the Valley, Er Rasheed started his march from Lal-Chowk to Chief Engineer Power Development Department (PDD) office by travelling a distance of two kms to register his protest against the failure of the government to take these VIP defaulters to task. Protestors holding banners and play cards were raising slogans like “Hamari Bijli Kisne Khaaie –  Aadhi khaye NHPC Aada Khaye VIP,  VIP Bijli Chor – Hai Hai, Nawa-e-Subhu Jawab doo –Bijli Ka Hisaab doo, Ansari Sahab Jawab Doo –Bijli Ka Hisaab doo” etc. Speaking on the occasion Rasheed  termed the issue very grave and unfortunate.”If VIPs, Industrialists and government forces are enjoying power supply round the clock but still don’t pay the huge liabilities, It is disgusting that PDD disconnects connections of poor common citizens who don’t even get power supply as per half of the schedule they are supposed to get when they fail to pay few hundred rupees well in time”. Er. Rasheed said.

He asked the chief minister Omar Abdullah that if he is tweeting on ‘meaningless’ issues why he is not coming out with a stand.

“It has made long sermons of Chief Minister meaningless jokes when he reminds people of performing their duties”. Rasheed said. He also asked Finance Minister Ab. Raheem Rather that he is never in a mood to pay genuine 6th pay commission arrears to government employees and makes always excuses as if he is running a company not a state but unfortunately cannot say two words to his beloved son to pay the electric dues.

“Similarly PDP senior leader Moulana Ifthikhar Hussain Ansari has also failed to do justice with the people by not advising his son to pay the huge electric dues”. Er Rasheed said.
