J&K state’s independent legislator from Kupwara’s Langate who faced a murderous attack Thursday minutes before lower house of state legislature resumed its business for the day got support from foot-in-mouth lawmaker Aasaduddin Owaisi.
Owaisi is chief of Hyderabad based All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen AIMIM). He represents same seat in Parliament.
“The thrashing of Engineer Rashid and the attempt on his life in the assembly is highly condemnable,” Owaisi said in his comments. “The lawmaker had done nothing wrong. In my view, he had not done anything illegal. The Supreme Court has stayed the beef ban. He had brought cooked food from outside,” Owaisi asserted. Eraabus.com reported.
The AIMIM chief wondered “what kind of governance was there in Kashmir where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shares power with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)”.
Owaisi lashed out at PDP for its failure to “provide protection to a member of assembly in the house”. “What type of goondaism is this? What message are we giving in the valley and to those who are working for peace in Kashmir?” asked Owaisi.
The MP hoped that assembly and the government will take strong action against the guilty and provide protection to Engineer Rashid.
