SRINAGAR

Awami Ittihaad Party President (AIP) and MLA Langate Engineer Rashid Thursday assailed Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) over its Haryana Lead Government decision to make Gita lessons mandatory in schools.

In a statement engineer Rashid stated: “The move to make Gita compulsory in Haryana Schools is not just against that secular credentials of India but also exposes the anti-minority stand of BJP and its motives to oppress rights of Muslims.”

He said that with like-minded parties RSS, Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena, the BJP is converting India into Hindu state. “These religious fanatic should understand that India is country of different religions and communities and they have no right to impose a particular religious book in a school,” he said.

On one side, he said, BJP and its allied communal parties are dubbing Muslim Madrassas as terrorist centres without any valid argument “while as on the other hand the same BJP is trying to force communal agenda on all communities”.

Voices of conscience, he said, are trying to alarm BJP that all this will lead to nothing but destruction: “While religious sentiments and religious texts of all communities have to be respected but forcing the religious theology is no civilized away.”

Er Rashid said these communal policies of BJP are making the two-nation theory look more valid.
