MLA Langate Er Rashid Thursday held a sit-in in south Kashmir’s Pulwama to protest the killing of a civilian in firing by forces yesterday.

Carrying a banner—inked with “Mr Modi Stop Terrorising Muslims” and splattered with red ink to symbolize innocent blood—Er Rashid staged dharna outside the deputy commissioner’s office in Pulwama town.

Er Rashid demanded arrest of the cops involved in the killing and rejected any magisterial probe, alleging that these probes have yielded nothing, except providing cover to the killers.

“Let the world community realise that GoI has given a free hand to security agencies to play with the lives of Kashmiris. It is shameful that police have tried to justify the killing by reflecting Parvaiz, a mobster. Let police answer is being part of a mob such a heinous crime that someone should be murdered,” he said.

Later on Er Rashid handed over a memorandum to the DC Pulwama urging him to ensure immediate arrest of the cops and to communicate to the government the anger and pain of every Kashmiri due to the killing.
