MLA Langate Engineer Rashid Thursday lamented collapse of drainage system in wake of ongoing rains in Srinagar city and other areas of Kashmir Valley .
“Downtown, uptown and areas like Lalbazar, Soura, Buchpora and almost all the areas of Srinagar city are witnessing complete failure of drainage system which is causing lot of hardships to masses in form of water logging and inundation of houses and streets. Government should have come up with some remedial measures but it has totally failed to safeguard masses from faulty drainage system. Municipal Authorities and Urban development bodies need to be made accountable to fix he rot,” he said in a statement to KNS
Rashid observed that Kashmir needs an effective drainage system once for all and mere spending money on drainage projects without vision and policy is not solution.
