Director MeT Mukhtar Ahmad told Kashmir Life that on April 8, the region is expected to witness generally cloudy skies with intermittent light to moderate rain, while higher reaches may receive snowfall.

For April 9 and 10, brief spells of light rain or thundershowers are likely at scattered locations, mainly during afternoon or late afternoon hours.

He further said that April 11 and 12 will see partly cloudy conditions, with chances of brief light rain at a few places towards evening. The weather is expected to remain largely dry on April 13 and 14.

Cloudy conditions are likely to return on April 15 and 16, with isolated spells of light rain during late afternoon or evening hours.

The MeT department has issued an advisory warning of thunderstorms, hailstorms, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph at some locations, along with the risk of landslides in vulnerable areas.

Farmers have been advised to resume agricultural activities from April 9 onwards. A gradual rise in daytime temperatures by 4–6°C is also expected across many parts of the region from Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed following a landslide near Banihal, disrupting traffic movement. Authorities have also ordered the closure of schools in Ramban district.
