BJP-PDP

With PDP President Mehbooba Mufti maintaining silence about government formation, the BJP’s two top members, Ram Madhav and Avinash Rai Khanna, reportedly deputed by the party high command to monitor the progress of forming the new regime in J&K have returned to New Delhi.

BJP’s general secretary Ram Madhav along with National vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna had reached Jammu on Tuesday to brief the local leadership about the progress related to forming the new regime in the state.

“They had had come here with the expectation that some breakthrough will come out. As the PDP has not officially communicated any decision to the BJP on the formation of the coalition government, they returned to Delhi,” a source said.

Sources said that both the leaders will now inform the present political situation of Jammu and Kashmir to the top leadership of BJP and its National President Amit Shah.

When contacted BJP state President Sat Sharma told KNS that both the leaders have left for New Delhi. “We had meeting with them. It was the routine party meeting. Nothing about government formation was discussed,” he said and added that since the PDP is silent over the government formation, BJP has not convened any meeting in this regard.

However, sources said that during the visit of Madhav and Khana have held a meeting with BJP leaders, including party legislators and MPs.

One of the BJP sources told KNS that during interactions with the BJP leaders, Ram Madhav maintained that due to sudden death of Mufti Sayeed it was “ethically wrong to impose fresh conditions” for re-building the coalition. “Had the change of guard taken place in the presence of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the BJP would have been in a position to impose some conditions but now the situation is entirely different,” the source, quoting Ram Madhav, said.

Interestingly, PDP Wednesday said it would review the progress made on Mufti’s vision before taking a call on the government formation with the BJP. “Mufti Sahab had a vision to ensure lasting peace for Jammu and Kashmir which is a political issue and his vision was supported by the largest national party (BJP. The party under the leadership of Mehbooba Ji will need to review how much we have succeeded to fulfil his vision so far,” PDP’s senior leader, Naeem Akhtar has said in an interview with the Shaherbeen.
