Strongly condemning slapping of another PSA over Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader and district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah who is already serving detention in Srinagar Central Jail, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday demanded immediate release of all the political detainees.
“The BJP backed Ms Mehbooba government has started a fresh crusade against the pro-freedom people in the state and their every action is being monitored by the government agencies,” Geelani said.
“Mir Hafizullah was arrested and detained under PSA some three months back and was logged in Srinagar Central Jail. Hurriyat Conference (g) legal cell had although challenged his PSA detention in the Jammu & Kashmir High Court but during this period his PSA time period ended and there was now no justification for his further detention,” the Hurriyat Conference (g) statement said.
“But the government once again used this lawless law and executed another PSA against Mir Hafizullah,” Geelani said.
He also strongly condemned the continuous detention of another Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Ameer Hamzah Shah and said, “although his PSA had been quashed by the High Court and had issued his release orders but immediately after his release from the Kathua District Jail, he was detained first in JIC Jammu and then was shifted to the Bandipora police station. The court had issued his release orders but the police by the virtue of their powers registered another FIR against him and blocked his release.”
Geelani termed this as “sheer state hooliganism which should be condemned at every level”.
Geelani appealed international human rights organizations to take serious notice of the miseries of the Kashmiri political detainees and use their influence for their release.
