SRINAGAR: A fresh exchange of fire broke out between security forces and militants in the Duggan area of Billawar in Kathua district on Friday evening.
A senior police official said that security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area following inputs about the presence of militants.
During the operation, the militants opened fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire. The area has been cordoned off, and additional reinforcements have been deployed, the officer said.
