SRINAGAR: Journalist Fahad Shah has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for the second time in 37 days, his Lawyer Umair Ronga said.

Taking to social networking site Twitter, Advocate Umair Ronga wrote: “ Today journalist Fahad Shah @pzfahad was remanded for 5 days in the Srinagar case — the third arrest. He has been booked under UAPA again. Second UAPA in the last 37 days.”

Fahad Shah was arrested in the Srinagar case on March 5, hours after he was granted bail by a Shopian court in a separate matter. This was the third time he had been arrested in over a month.

Shah was first arrested on February 4 with police claiming that he allegedly glorified terrorism, spread fake news and incited the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The police have claimed that three separate first information reports (FIRs) were registered against Shah.

“Fahad Shah is wanted in three cases for glorifying terrorism, spreading fake news and inciting general public for creating law and order situations: FIR No. 70/2020 of PS Safakadal Srinagar, FIR No. 06/2021 of PS Imamsahib, Shopian & currently has been arrested in FIR No. 19/2022 of PS Pulwama,” inspector general of police, Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar had said soon after his arrest.
