Fair Price Shop Dealer Caught Red-Handed Demanding Bribe: ACB

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a fair price shop dealer in Pati Bongam village of Kulgam district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.

A spokesperson in a statement  said that ACB received a complaint against Ajaz Ahmad Malik, alleging that he demanded a bribe for releasing ration and completing KYC formalities.

“The complainant reported that the dealer repeatedly denied him monthly ration, citing incomplete KYC requirements. Despite multiple visits, the dealer procrastinated and eventually demanded Rs 7,500 as a bribe,” the statement reads.

The complainant, having arranged Rs 4,000, approached ACB for intervention.

“In response, ACB registered case FIR No. 03/2024 under Section 7 of P/C Act at ACB Police Station Anantnag and initiated an investigation. A trap team apprehended the accused red-handed while he was demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 4,000 from the complainant,” it further added.

The statement noted that the recovered money forms part of the ongoing investigation.
