A 50-year-old man who claimed to be a faith healer was arrested by the J&K Police for raping and kidnapping a minor in Srinagar.
A complaint was lodged on September 6 by a local resident with the Soura police station that Manzoor Ahmed Bhat of Shahama Nagbal, Ganderbal, a fake faith healer, had kidnapped his minor daughter on September 4. The police immediately registered a case under Section 363 (abduction) of Ranbir Penal Code and started the investigation.
“All efforts were employed for the recovery of the 15-year-old girl and the arrest of the kidnapper. After three days, Bhat was arrested from central Kashmir’s Beerwa area in Budgam district and the girl was traced,” a police officer told Tribune India.
“Her medical examination was carried out and the report has confirmed rape. We have now added rape charges in the case against Bhat,” the officer said.
