SRINAGAR: Famous poet, intellectual, and literary craftsman Abdul Qayoom Ganai alias Sagar Sehrai passed away on Saturday morning. He was 70 years old.
Sagar Sahrai a resident of Bhaderwah was unwell for a long time. He is survived by his wife and three children.
The funeral prayers for the deceased were offered at Bhaderwah following which he was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard.
He had retired as Zonal Education Officer and after post-retirement, he remained busy in contributing to society in his own way. He was not only a good poet but also a good prose writer .
He was associated with the stage and his death has created such a gap in the world of Urdu literature that cannot be compensated for years.
Sagar Sehrai has crafted several books, some of which have come to public attention.
His words have been sung by great artists of Jammu and Kashmir like Rashid Jahangir, Naseem ul Haq.
