Speaking to reporters in Jammu, Abdullah said the entire village in Ramban has come down due to the disaster and three people have died. “We don’t know what exactly happened inside, but it is a major calamity,” he said.

Calling the incident a natural disaster that must be faced with urgency, Farooq stressed the need to relocate the affected residents. “These people will have to be resettled elsewhere because the area is no longer liveable.

“Entire village has come down. We must now turn our attention toward their rehabilitation,” Farooq said.

It is important to note that on Sunday, a cloudburst followed by heavy rainfall triggered flash floods, landslides, and destruction in parts of Ramban district, particularly in Seri and Maitra areas.

The calamity claimed at least three lives and left several others stranded or homeless. Relief operations were launched by the Indian Army and civil administration.

NH-44 was severely affected, and restoration work is expected to take more than 72 hours. Quick Reaction Teams, heavy machinery, and rescue teams are actively working to clear debris and support the affected population. (JKNS)
