SRINAGAR: President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), Dr Farooq Abdullah, asserted on Wednesday that the democratic institutions and the constitution of the country were under threat, stressing the collective responsibility to protect them.

Emphasising the need for unity to preserve democracy and the Constitution, Dr Farooq urged citizens to resist any efforts aimed at undermining the democratic fabric of the nation. He highlighted the critical phase being faced by the nation and called for concerted action to thwart attempts to dismantle its democratic foundation.

Present at the meeting were Additional General Secretary Ajay Sadhotra, Provincial President Rattan Lal Gupta, and other party leaders.

Addressing the upcoming parliamentary elections, Dr Farooq emphasised the importance of supporting INDIA Alliance candidates. He noted the contrasting ideologies between those promoting sectarianism and those advocating unity and inclusivity. Dr Farooq urged citizens to strengthen democracy and uphold the constitution by supporting candidates aligned with the INDIA Alliance.

Furthermore, Dr Farooq warned against anti-Kashmir elements seeking to divide votes to benefit the BJP, urging people to identify and reject such divisive forces.
