SRINAGAR: A man from Kulgam district was killed in a tragic accident after his car rolled down into a deep gorge at Maroog area Ramban along Srinagar-Jammu highway on Tuesday.

According to eyewitnesses, the car, bearing registration number JK18B 3678, rolled down into the deep gorge, leaving no chance of survival for the driver. The police and QRT Ramban volunteers launched a rescue operation soon after the accident and were able to recover the body of the victim.
The individual has been identified as Sarfaraz Ahmad Bhat, the son of Abdul Jabbar Bhat and a resident of Paniwah Kulgam. He is survived by his wife and son, and was employed by the Indian Air force. He was en route to Kulgam from Delhi in order to celebrate Eid with his family.
The officials involved in the rescue operation stated that the body of the deceased has been transported to their hometown for last rites. Investigations are being carried out to determine the cause of the accident, which is still unclear.
