Fatal road accident claims life of 2 Forest Guards

Two Forest Guards died in a fatal road accident when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a 300-feet deep gorge near Bajri-Nallah Zojila in Picturesque Sonamarg of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Police sources told CNS that two forest guards whom police identified as Muhammad Abdullah Bhat and Ghulam Nabi Shah were deputed by the department at Ranga Forest Check Post near Baltal Sonamarg. “Both the employees had gone to Bajri-Nallah some three Kilometres distance from the posting to fetch water. The driver lost control over his vehicle (JK01D-2859) and it skidded off the road near Bajri-Nallah and fell into a 300-feet deep gorge, resulting in the on spot death of Ghulam Nabi Shah resident of Baba Wayil Gutli Bagh Ganderbal while another fellow Muhammad Abdullah Bhat of Watlar Ganderbal was shifted to SKIMS Srinagar in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries,” police said.

Confirming the incident and the death of duo, Station House Officer Sonamarg Mir Afaq said that the vehicle damaged beyond repair in the accident. “We have registered a case vide FIR number 26/2014 under section 279,337,304A, 427 of RPC and investigation is going on,” he said.
