SRINAGAR: Police in Samba apprehended two drug smugglers and seized approximately 5.20 grams of heroin and recovered Rs 1,77,260 in cash from their possession.

“A police team from Vijaypur, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), encountered two individuals, including a woman, acting suspiciously during a patrol in the Rakh Barotain area. Upon noticing the police presence, both attempted to flee, but officers acted swiftly and apprehended them,”  a p[olice spokesperson said in a statement.

The detained suspects admitted to being a father-daughter duo involved in drug trafficking in the locality. They were identified as Roshan Din and Payaro Bibi, residents of Rakh Barotain in Samba.

A case under Sections 8, 21, 22, 27-A, and 29 of the NDPS Act has been lodged at Vijaypur police station, and an investigation is underway.
