Stating that people favouring rapists enjoy political patronage, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) on Tuesday said that it was alarming how these political forces attempted to deny justice to innocent Asifa who was raped and murdered in Kathua.
JKDFP said in a statement it was alarming how some lawyers backed by the communal forces, who are enjoying power in the State as well, tried to prevent the Crime Branch from filing a charge sheet against the criminals.
The attempts to encourage rapists were first made at ministerial level by invoking religion of the victim and now by lawyers by raising a voice in favour of therapists. Some criminal and communal lawyers were also raising slogans like ‘Jai Shree Ram’ clearly indicating their political inclination. This is how the communal forces are spreading venom and hatred for mere political benefits.
While condemning strongly the shameful act of some lawyers, Freedom Party said that rapists and murderers were first shielded in Aasifa-Neelofar case in Shopian and today attempts are being made to repeat the same. Had the murders and rapists of Aasia and Neelofar been punished the communal forces would not have gather courage to protest in favour of Asifa’s rapists and murders.
