SRINAGAR

Fearing de- recognition by the government the majority of the private schools in valley have expressed their inability to implement the decision of the Private Schools Coordination Committee (PSCC) decision of granting mass promotion to students up to class VII.

Sources told KNS that the heads of the private schools in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley have conveyed their inability to grant mass promotion to students upto class VII as announced by PSCC recently. Several groups of the parents whose wards are enrolled in different private schools of Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley informed the Srinagar office of Kashmir News Service that heads of almost all the schools have conveyed their inability to grant mass promotion up to class XII.

They said with PSCC continuing their confrontation with the top brass of the school education department on its unilateral decision over mass promotion the chaos and confusion has gripped school children across Kashmir.

Head of one of a leading private missionary school on conditions of anonymity told KNS ” We are part of  the PSCC) but can grant promotion to the students upto class VII for the reasons the government is empowered to derecognize the schools tending violate the decision of the school education department”.

He said it would be better for the PSCC to settle the issue with the school education department so that a consensus decision is taken to protect the interest of the students.
