The festival, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), is scheduled to be held from September 7 to 10 and is aimed at positioning the Union Territory as a destination for cinema, creativity and cultural exchange.

According to officials, the festival has already received more than 900 film submissions from around 50 countries, reflecting strong national and international interest in the maiden edition.

They said the response highlights the growing recognition of Jammu and Kashmir as an emerging centre for film production, cinematic excellence and creative collaboration.

The four-day festival will feature screenings of selected films, masterclasses, panel discussions, interactive sessions and cultural programmes, bringing together filmmakers, industry professionals, students and cinema enthusiasts to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Officials said the festival also seeks to promote the culture and heritage of Jammu and Kashmir through cinema while recognising outstanding films from across the world and encouraging artistic excellence and cinematic innovation.

The DIPR is also planning a series of activities to ensure wider participation from stakeholders associated with the film industry.

The curtain-raiser for the festival was held on July 17, marking the formal launch of the event and inviting filmmakers, producers, artists and cinema enthusiasts from across the globe to participate in the inaugural edition.
