The premiere of “A poet of silence”-a documentary film based on the life of Gyanpeeth awardee Rehman Rahi sahib was screened here at Tagore Hall on Tuesday.

The screening received the huge response as around 600 people turned up for the event.

The film directed by Bilal A Jan has been produced by films division Mumbai India. The event was jointly organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture And Languages, Bilal Jan Productions and Waruk- a social organisation working with the active support of Department of Tourism Kashmir and J&K Bank. The event was moderated by Rashid Nizami.

Many intellectuals, writers, poets, cinematographers and students from the state and outside attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion Rehman Rahi said he was humbled to witness such a huge gathering at the premiere. He stressed upon the fact that youth must have a voice of their own and not blindly follow the traditionalists in their creative expression.

Satish Vimal also presented a critical analysis of the film whereas Bilal Jan, the director of the film presented a vote of thanks.
