The protesting National Youth Corps (NYC) volunteers have called off their “Self Immolation Program”.
The NYC volunteers are on hunger strike for over one month now and had planned “Self Immolation” on Friday outside civil secretariat here.
Sources said that the protesting NYC representatives Thursday held a meeting with the Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb A Drabu, wherein it is believed that the NYC un-regularised employees have decided to call off their protest program to be held tomorrow.
Engaged during the 2010 civil uprising, the NYC volunteers were working in different state government departments. The last NC-Congress government had passed an order regularising their services but after approval from Finance and Planning Ministries.
