SRINAGAR: Police on Friday reported that a case has been registered against the organisers and participants of a Youm-e-Quds procession in Sonpah village, Beerwah, for disrupting law and order by raising objectionable slogans.
According to the police, a large crowd assembled during the procession under the instructions of the organizers and engaged in sloganeering. Their actions led to a law and order disturbance and caused the blockage of the Sonpah-Beerwah road, hindering the smooth movement of the general public.
Taking cognizance of the incident, Budgam Police have registered a case under Sections 126(2) and 189(6) of the BNS, 2023, vide FIR No. 33/2025 at Police Station Beerwah. Further investigation is underway, and necessary legal action will be taken against those involved, a police spokesperson said.
Budgam Police urge citizens to maintain peace and refrain from activities that could disturb public order, the statement added. (GNS)
