SRINAGAR: A fire broke out on Friday in the forest area of Hari Parbat, adjacent to the revered Makhdoom Sahib Shrine, triggering an emergency response amid concerns over the spread of flames in the dry vegetation zone.
Officials said the fire engulfed dry grass, bushes and trees in the forest belt surrounding the hill. An official present at the site said the abundance of highly flammable dry vegetation contributed to the rapid spread of the blaze.
Fire and Emergency Services teams, including personnel from the Makhdoom Sahib Fire Station, rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and launched firefighting operations to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby areas.
Authorities said the situation was being closely monitored and efforts were continuing to fully douse the fire. No casualties or damage to structures were reported at the time of filing this report.
