Three houses were gutted in a fire incident in Rangal Mohallah Safapora in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Fire broke out from the house of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Gani Sheikh and soon engulfed two adjoining houses, locals said.

“The cause of the fire is believed to be leakage of gas,” they said.

The affected families include that of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, and Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh.

Reports said that soon after the incident fire tenders from nearby fire stations rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

However, fire damaged the upper stories of three residential houses along with their belongings.
