Panic has gripped the entire area of busy Residency road Srinagar after smoke was seen emanating from a shoe shop. The shop is locked. Locals said the owner of the shop closed the shop at around 6 PM.
The shopkeepers, pedestrians are around to open the shop which also is very close to the residential quarters cum offices of various media houses.
The squad from fire and emergency services have reached to the spot and started their operations. The police personnel have reached to the spot.
The people living and working nearby are seen busy in shifting their essentials to safer places.
The building of which the shop is in the ground floor houses media offices in upper stories.
As this report is being filed, the fire has been brought under control.
The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
