SRINAGAR: An early morning fire in the Noorbagh area of Srinagar left three families homeless, as the flames consumed their homes and possessions.
Though no lives were lost, the emotional toll on the survivors is immense. The victims recounted the terrifying moments when the fire broke out, spreading rapidly through their homes.
Nusrat Jan, one of the survivors, shared her ordeal: “We had just started our day when the fire broke out. There was no time to think. All I could do was grab my children and run. We left with nothing but the name of Allah on our lips. Everything—our food, clothes, memories—are gone,” she said.
Jalal Ud Din, another victim, described how the fire quickly spread: “We were helpless, watching everything burn. We have nothing now. No belongings, no home nothing.”
When asked about relief efforts, the victims said officials had visited the site but had not provided any assistance yet.
Fire started around 7 AM, severely damaging three homes. Fortunately, it was contained before spreading to other houses. No casualties or injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation—(KNO).
