Firing again along LoC

Indian and Pakistani troops again exchanged firing on the Line of Control on Friday, in Poonch district.

Defence sources said that it the third firing incident in less than 24 hours.

They alleged that Pakistani troops shelled mortars and fired on forward areas along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources added that both the sides opened small arms firing and shelled mortars on each other’s forward areas along LoC in Barasingha, Mendhar and Hamirpur sub-sectors of Poonch district.

According to the defence sources Indian troops retaliated with equal calibre weapons, triggering heavy exchanges which are going on when the reports last came in.

A day before Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy firing along LoC in Mendhar and Bhimbhergali-Balakote sub-sectors in Poonch.

 There have been 127 firing incidents along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir this year, which is highest in past eight years.
