Department of Post, Jammu and Kashmir Circle on Wednesday opened first Aadhar Enrollment and Updating Centre in Srinagar GPO to facilitate the general public, an official spokesperson in a statement said.

The spokesman said that the center was inaugurated today in Srinagar GPO by Saugat Biswas, Secretary Information Technology, J&K Govt. in the presence of P D Tshering, the Chief Postmaster General J&K Circle.

“Chief Postmaster General in his address said that it is for the first time that Kashmir Division has been provided with such a facility through the post office and in future, this facility will be extended to other parts of the state. He said that general public will be benefitted by this facility,” the spokesman said.

He further said that all measures shall be taken to better the Postal Services in all the regions of the J&K State.

Chief Guest in his speech thanked the Department of Posts for providing this kind of service when Department has already a huge responsibility of delivery of letters, parcels, speed post apart from others series like Postal Life Insurance, Saving Bank Services etc.

The inauguration function was attended by B L Pandita, Sr. Superintendent of Post Offices, Z. A. Mir, Sr. Postmaster Srinagar GPO and a large number of distinguished guests, renowned personalities, a person from the press and electronic media and Postal Staff.
