For the first time, a ‘successful’ spinal surgery was conducted in the District hospital Islamabad in South Kashmir on Thursday.
A 22-year-old patient, Yasir Ahmad, was operated upon one week after suffering from fracture in his spine after falling from a tree.
Speaking to Kashmir Life, Dr Majeed Mirab, Medical Superintendent of the hospital said, “it was first time that our doctors conducted such type of surgery.”
So far, such types of surgeries were only conducted in tertiary care hospitals in Kashmir.
Surgeons, Dr Younis Kamal and Dr Gulzar Kuchay and their team conducted the surgery, the MS informed.
The patient, according to the doctors, is doing well after the surgery.
