SRINAGAR: In the year 2019, a small village in Kulgam district, Kanipora, had definite celebrations. Tears, traditions, hugs and cheers welcomed the opening of a school, Ayesha Ali Academy in an area with a lower literacy rate compared to rest of Jammu and Kashmir.

Apprehensive of its success and stability initially, the school more than a year after its inception has taken huge strides towards excellence in all spheres of education.

Emerging as a brand of quality education, in its first year of operation 840 students were enrolled with 48 teachers on board. The administration led by Principal Mohit Marg has 43 staff members.

Face to face with instability post-August 5, 2019 and later the Covid crisis, the school managed to continue the classes satisfactorily virtually. “During Covid-19 we successfully operated classes through zoom and google meet. Took our Periodic Assessments,  half-yearly via online mode. We are on track with our syllabus and parents were fully satisfied with our work,” Mohit Marg, Principal of the school told Kashmir Life.

Off late in October last month, the school has emerged as the first and only English medium educational institution in the belt to acquire CBSE affiliation till Secondary board. Given the response of society, the managing body feels overwhelmed. “Society acknowledged our hard & smart work. We cater each and every child of our Academy and ensured that learning never stopped in Ayesha Ali Academy,” said Mohit.

The school as per the details follows a child-centred curriculum based on CBSE pattern supplemented with co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. Hopeful of better results at the board level, Mohit said first board result will be in 2022-23. “Our Academic Session is between Dec – Dec with one and half month break from last week Dec to Mid Feb,” he said.

Emphasising on the overall development of students, the school is in the process of establishing multi-sports academy in the district.

Sharing details with Kashmir Life, Mohit said: “We plan to apply for Senior Secondary Affiliation in March 2021 and to open a multi-sports academy in Kulgam.”
