Five Drug Peddlers Arrested in Kupwara, Baramulla, Srinagar, and Budgam; Contraband, Cash Seized

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested five individuals involved in drug peddling across Kupwara, Baramulla, Srinagar, and Budgam districts, recovering contraband substances and cash during the operations.

In Kupwara, a police team from Police Post Bazaar intercepted Ishfaq Ahmad Parry, a resident of Doniwari Lolab, at a checkpoint in Geerhatchi. Upon searching him, authorities found 11 grams of heroin-like substance and Rs 5,170 in cash. Parry was immediately taken into custody.

In Baramulla, a police team from Police Station Uri arrested Saleem Khan, a resident of Dawaran Uri, at a checkpoint in Gingal Uri. During the search, officers recovered 1.208 kilograms of cannabis powder from Khan’s possession.

In Srinagar, two individuals were apprehended at a checkpoint in Dalgate. The suspects, identified as Aquib Ahmad Sofi of Buchwara Dalgate and Ashiq Hussain Dar (also known as Ashiq Kala) of Dubji Bund Maisuma, were found with a significant quantity of narcotics and Rs 5,000 in cash.

Meanwhile, in Budgam, a vehicle bearing registration number JK01K-3500 was stopped during a naka check at Madbal Chadoora. The driver, Sajad Ahmad Wani of Nowhar Chadoora, was found in possession of 1.70 kilograms of charas powder and two sticks of charas wrapped in corn husk. Police arrested Wani and seized the vehicle used in the crime.

Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at the respective police stations, and investigations are underway. Authorities have urged the public to report drug peddling or any other criminal activities by contacting the nearest police station or dialling 112.
