Five Held in Drug-Related Cases in South Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and kashmir police arrested three drug peddlers in Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession. In a separate action, two drug consumers were arrested in Awantipora.

“In Pulwama, a police party from Police Station Rajpora, during a naka checking at Achgoza, intercepted an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK05H/0877 with two persons on board. During the search, approximately 5.7 kilograms of poppy straw and ₹14,200 in cash were recovered. The driver, identified as Zahoor Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar, and the co-passenger, Rayees Ahmad Gooru, son of Bashir Ahmad Gooru, both residents of Gath Takun, Awantipora, were arrested and shifted to the police station, where they remain in custody,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

In another operation, a police party from PS Rajpora, during patrolling at Putrigam, intercepted an Alto vehicle, driven by Amir Ahmad Wani. “A search led to the recovery of 10.65 grams of heroin-like substance. He was arrested and remains in custody at the police station.”

“In Awantipora, during patrolling at Dangerpora, Padgampora Crossing, a police party from Police Station Awantipora, headed by SHO PS Awantipora DySP(P) Atif Zahoor, arrested two drug consumers under suspicious circumstances. They were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Gani Bhat, resident of Awantipora, and Rehan Fayaz Mir, son of Fayaz Ahmad Mir, resident of Iqbal Colony, Awantipora. During questioning, both admitted to being regular drug consumers. They were shifted to the drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centre in Tral, where their tests returned positive,” police said.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations, and further investigations are underway.
