Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three persons involved in threatening and intimidating of locals in north Kashmir’s Sopore town.
A Police spokesman in a statement said that three persons identified as Hilal Ahmad, Sahil Nazir both residents of Brath-Kalan Sopore and Peerzada Mohammad Zahir resident of Check Brath Sopore were arrested and incriminating materials including threat posters were recovered from their possession.
“Initial investigation into the matters reveals that these individuals were involved in publishing and circulation of threat posters of proscribed militant outfit LeT in Sopore area,” said the spokesman.
“Case FIR No 266/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore. All three accused persons have been arrested and shifted to PS Sopore. Incriminating material recovered from their possession has been taken into records for the purpose of investigation. Further investigation in the matter is in progress,”he said.
“Separately, officers at a checkpoint established at Kupwara Byepass crossing intercepted and arrested two terrorist associates identified as Ulfat Bashir Mir resident of Nowpora Jageer and Aijaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Darpora Bomai,” he added.
“Officers at the checkpoint recovered incriminating materials including ammunition from their possession. As per the initial investigation, both the persons are linked to proscribed militant outfit LeT,” said the spokesman.
“Case FIR No 280/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore. Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to PS Sopore. Further investigation in the matter is in progress,” said police spokesman in a statement.
