Five persons were killed and eight sustained injuries on Friday after a car they were travelling in skidded off the road and hit the parapet on the Jammu-Pathankot highway, reports claimed.

An official said that a car travelling from Jammu to Punjab went out of the driver’s control and hit the road parapet during the early hours at Tapyal.

Four persons died on spot, while other eight injured persons were shifted to Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu city for the treatment.

The deceased was identified as the driver Labpreet Singh, 30, Punnu 30, Veena, Geeta Devi, 60 and a year-old kid.

The injured persons were identified as Rahul, 23, son of Kashmira Lal, Atras, 24, son of Vijay Masih, Raju, 30, son of Yousaf Masih, Neetu, 25, woman of Rahul and her 2 year old children, Monu, 26, son of Ram Paul, all residents of Gurdaspur Punjab.
