Police said such obstructions at a busy commercial junction can cause traffic congestion and inconvenience to the public, besides increasing the risk of accidents.

Following the inspection, Police Station Shaheed Gunj registered FIR No. 72/2026 under Section 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the shopkeepers concerned.

An investigation has been initiated to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged obstruction.

Police have urged shopkeepers and members of the public not to encroach upon roads or other public spaces in ways that impede pedestrian or vehicular movement. The action forms part of routine measures to maintain road safety and ensure smooth traffic flow in busy commercial areas.
