A cloudburst along with massive rainfall hit Dachigam and its adjacent areas in the outskirts of Srinagar city creating flood like situation.

Reports said that flood like situation emerged in Harwan, Dachigam and Tailbal areas of these were lashed by massive rains during the wee hours of Tuesday.

An official said that at least two persons have gone missing and efforts are on to locate them, reportedly the duo was collecting firewood when the flashfloods swept them away.

Aamir Ali, Director of Disaster Management said that heavy rains lashed Harwan, Dachigam and adjoining areas between 2 and 7 am, creating a flood-like situation in Tailbal nallah.

Amir Ali said rainwater damaged standing crops in the area. “Two persons went missing after heavy rains,” he said, adding that State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams reached at the spot earlier today to carry out the rescue operation.

Meanwhile, a cloudburst in the Hilltop forest area in Hayan Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district triggered flash floods in Hayan Nallah.

Reports said that a cloudburst hit Najwan area of Kangan town damaging road and agricultural land while in another cloudburst that hit Hayan village caused huge damage to agricultural land and irrigation canal.

A team of the Revenue department and irrigation and flood control department rushed to the spot to monitor the situation. (CNS)
