SRINAGAR: In response to a forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting intermittent spells of heavy to very heavy rainfall across various districts of Jammu Division over the next 72 hours, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, has issued a weather advisory, urging residents to take preventive measures and exercise extreme caution.
The advisory highlights the risk of intense rainfall, flash floods, landslides, and mudslides, particularly in vulnerable areas. Citizens are warned to stay away from flood-prone zones, water-logged areas, and fast-flowing streams, and to avoid venturing near nallahs or flooded regions.
Residents have been advised to keep emergency supplies ready, remain alert to weather alerts, and prioritise safety at all times. Travel to affected areas is discouraged unless absolutely necessary, and those who must travel are advised to carry appropriate rain gear and essential medicines. Individuals residing in vulnerable zones have been instructed to identify safer locations in consultation with local authorities.

The weather advisory was issued by Prem Singh, JKAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, and was circulated to all relevant departments including the Divisional Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, police officials, and engineering divisions for immediate action and preparedness.
