Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has strongly denounced the government led crackdown on hundreds of Kashmiri youth and Hurriyat leaders and activists.

Mirwaiz termed the arrests and repression against innocent Kashmiris by the government as the worst phase of dictatorial politics in Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “The use of wanton force and large scale crackdown including nocturnal raids against youth in Srinagar and across Kashmiris testifies the fact that the despotic authorities can go to any extent to remain in the power.”

He also said, “By virtue of black powers, the Indian forces are increasingly misusing those powers to spread terror and scare. He said as a result the repression is increasing day by day and forces don not even desist from commiting barbaric acts.”

Mirwaiz, who is currently under house arrest, in a press statement said that the government was playing politics of hypocrisy in Kashmir. He said that on one hand government was falsely claiming of providing security to people while as on another hand it was involved in naked aggression against Kashmiris at all levels.

He appealed people to follow MMM calls in letter and spirit. Mirwaiz further asked people to keep an eye on miscreants as it was being reported that at some places tourists were harassed and their vehicles were targeted.  He said such acts were a cause of concern and were in no way connected with liberation movement. He said people should expose such miscreants.

Mirwaiz said Kashmir has a history of hospitality since centuries onwards. He said people have been courteous to guests and whosoever is indulging in harassing tourists is anti-movement. He said  people should not allow those miscreants to succeed in their nefarious designs.

Meanwhile Hurriyat spokesman has strongly condemned the attack on JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik at Delhi airport by RSS and shiv sena goons. He said Malik was a respectable leader of Kashmir and Hurriyat in no way tolerate any attack on him.

Spokesman further expressed concern that police was not furnishing details of charges to the family members of the arrested youth lodged in different police lock ups across Kashmir. He further said, “The youth are being torture and terrorised to admit offences which they have not committed.”
