After a brief exchange of fire with militants, government forces launched a cordon and search operation at Haril area of Langate in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.
Reports said that the Army’s 30 RR cordoned off Dobimohalla Haril on Friday wee hours after receiving information about the presence of militants and as the forces reached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired on them resulting in a gunfight.
The exchange of fire continued for some time after which the firing stopped.
Reportedly the militants have escaped from the spot, however, the search operation was going on when the last reports came in.
