Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police alongwith the Central reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Monday laid a siege to several villages of the Shopian district in southern part of Kashmir, reports said.

“Personnel of 62 RR and other forces laid siege around Ronipora and other villages of the district and conducted house to house searches. Tekipora, Matrobugh, Zaipopra, Dangam and Wangam areas were also under siege,” reports said.

This is for the third such operation in the same are in last one and a half months.

Local alleged that army personnel beat many youth in Ronipora area of Shopian.

The searches were going on when reports last came in.
