Militants and army on Monday exchanged gunfire after militants travelling in a car opened fire on the army patrolling when they were signalled by the army to stop the car in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Reports said that militants travelling in a vehicle opened fire in an army party after they were asked by the army to stop for the routine checking in Jandwal village of the district, a patrolling party retaliated, resulting in an exchange of fire. However, there were no reports of any loss.

Meanwhile, forces have cordoned off the area and searches are on to nab the assailants.
