Srinagar: Palhallan town of Pattan on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway on Thursday erupted after a heavy contingent of forces tried to cordon the area, reports said.
They said that as the forces tried to cordon the town, intense clashes between forces and protesters erupted.
Reports quoting sources said that soon after forces reached Tantrapora, and started cordoning the area, hundreds of locals came on streets raising anti-India and pro-freedom slogans and pelted stones on forces.
The forces retaliated by using tear gas shelling and aerial firing, they said.
