SRINAGAR: A forest fire broke out near Liver Village in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday evening, rapidly spreading across Compartment 56 of the Lidar Forest Division in Bijbehara’s Mattan Forest Range, official sources said.
Dense vegetation and challenging terrain are making firefighting efforts difficult, officials stated. “A large section of the forest is ablaze, and accessibility remains a major obstacle,” a forest department official said. “Despite the challenges, teams are making every effort to control the fire.”
Firefighters, along with local volunteers, are on the ground battling the flames, but the situation remains critical. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and additional resources may be deployed if required. (KNT)
